Welcome to the Office of the Chaplain! We are so glad you are here.
The role of the chapel is to deepen spiritual, ethical, and community life at Carleton College. The chapel is for everyone: students, faculty, staff, parents, and alums. It is for those who identify as religious as well as those who do not. It is for anyone engaged with questions of meaning, justice, becoming, hope, purposeful living, and the great issues of our time.
Our work is centered at Skinner Memorial Chapel, but extends far beyond it. You’ll find us participating in Buddhist Meditation in the Japanese Garden, observing Shabbat or Ramadan at Page House, honoring the four directions in the Arb, and celebrating Day of the Dead and Diwali in the Great Hall. We are teaching in the classroom, getting coffee on Division Street, participating in student religious groups, and joining local religious communities for services. You’ll see us in the streets demanding justice and on Zoom calls organizing for change.
Please don’t hesitate to contact the Chaplain’s Office with any questions or simply to speak with a chaplain. We’d love to hear from you and we hope you will join us soon for one of the many events and programs.
